Pastor Found

You Are Invited to the welcoming of our new pastor Paul Luis on Sunday June 27 between our 9am service and the 11am service we shall have a meet & greet with Pastor Paul and his family. Fellowship Hall 10am. Cake, coffee, tea and water will be available. Please join us to meet him and stay for one of our services.

At the same time you may say thank you  and good-bye  to Pastor Mark Matheson, our interim pastor for 19 months. He has been a trooper during this time.

Below is the process the Search Committee used to find our new pastor.

Dear Members and Friends of Central Parkway Baptist Church

On March 21, our Pastor Search Committee observed
a potential candidate for our pastor. Paul Luis preached a sermon at a Mt. Dora Baptist Church which they felt was Bible based and relevant to our lives. The committee referred Paul to our deacons as the prospective candidate to be our new pastor. After interviewing Paul, our deacons issued an invitation for him to preach trial sermons on April 11th at both of our services.

Paul received a master’s degree in Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was at Palm Springs Baptist Church (Lake Worth, FL) for 15 years. He has been a chaplain at a hospice for four (4) years and associate pastor at Florida Gardens Baptist Church for four (4) years. People who know Paul described him as a good shepherd for his congregation, and a relationship builder. He is active in both the local and state association.

Paul and his wife have three teenage daughters. The entire family is bilingual. Mrs. Luis  is a third grade teacher.

He preached  in both the 9:00 and 11:00 services, with a Q&A session at the end of each service. Everyone can participate in the Q&A sessions. Members were asked to vote yes or no to his being called as our next pastor at the end of each Q&A.  For those members who did not come to church because of the pandemic  or other health issues, were able to watch his sermon on YOU-Tube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEzBAK9JmDEzpUIWaPLjeKA They then hade the opportunity to come to church Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday from 11:00am-1:00pm to cast their ballot. The ballots were set out front under the portico. .  At 1:00 pm Wednesday the balloting ended. The Search Committee  counted the ballots and  let the deacons, the council, and the candidate know the voting was yes to call Pastor Luis as our next senior pastor.

Pray we have open hearts and listen for God’s will during this time of transition.

Praise the Lord
I
